
We understand that times are tougher, belts are tighter and that you may want to apply for a scholarship for the 2010 CU Activist Summit.
We want to encourage your participation in the Summit however only a limited amount of scholarship funds are available this year. We would like to provide funding to as many people as possible. Unfortunately there will be more demand for funds than we will be able to provide. Please keep this in mind when determining the amount of financial assistance you request.
Applications for scholarships will be reviewed as they arrive. Apply immediately for the best chance to receive scholarship assistance.
To apply for a scholarship send us a brief statement (one page maximum). Tell us:
- Type of scholarship you are applying for (General, Student or Community Leader*)
- How you or the program you represent will enrich the conference experience by your participation;
- What benefits you expect to provide to other consumer activists and/or the community you represent as a result of attendance; and
- Considering the expected costs to attend, tell us what you can afford to contribute.
Estimated costs to attend include:
- Conference registration fee
- Travel via plane, train, automobile - cost depends on your location
- Washington DC hotel accommodations for 3 nights
- Ground transportation from airport to conference site
- Meals (except three lunches included in conference)
- Miscellaneous costs (airline bag fees, public transportation, etc)
Note: We did not include estimated costs to and from the airport from your home because those costs can vary depending upon where you live.

You will be notified whether or not we are able to offer you a scholarship in any amount before the registration deadline. Be sure to include your full name and contact information.
*There are three types of scholarships available for the 2010 CU Activist Summit. Please identify which scholarship you are applying for in your application.
- General Scholarship: Anyone is welcome to apply for a partial scholarship to help underwrite the costs of your attendance. The scholarship awards will be made to those who will enrich the conference experience and who have financial need.
- Student Scholarship: Reduced conference fee for area college students. Students must apply and show enrollment in 2010 Spring Semester of a DC, Maryland or Virginia college or university.
- Community Leader Scholarship: Reduced conference fee for area community leaders. Those interested must apply and demonstrate community leadership in DC, Maryland or Virginia. Community leaders is a broad term and could be anyone from a church community director, a staffer at a small nonprofit, a blogger, a council member on the ANC, a teacher/professor, or a member of a local PTA the possibilities are endless.
